OUR L.E.A.P. SMART FIVE-GUIDING PRICIPALS
Our
L.E.A.P. SMART Five Guiding Principles & Goals
(L.E.A.P. IS AN
ACRONYM FOR Learn Earn And Prosper/Play)
1) Continuous Communication: Each day young people
are engulfed by hundreds of sophisticated messages that glamorize
drugs, unsafe activities and violence, or which undermine their
confidence in the future. Where is the positive educational &
enriching alternative to these negative messages?
The L.E.A.P.
SMART Team™ is committed to creating a new Global presence in
all significant media, including, radio, television, theater,
popular music, apparel, the World Wide Web, and print. Our goal
is to help communities across the globe to communicate a continuous,
never-ending flow of positive, hopeful, helpful, Edu-taining and
inspiring messages to the Youth of the world!
2) Positive Heroes and Legends: Example is the
master teacher. Today, more than ever, young people need and deserve
powerful role models---positive heroes and legends---to imitate
and emulate.
We are creating a
whole new generation of "Positive Action Heroes"---The L.E.A.P
. SMART Team, which is comprised of positive high-profile Celebrities
from throughout the world---whose experiences, presence, credibility,
exploits and adventures will rivet the attention of young people
throughout the world! The goal is to dramatize positive approaches
and healthy outcomes to everyday problems for our youth in a viable
and realistic way that they can accept, understand and embrace.
Talented artists and writers will bring our L.E.A.P. SMART Team
to life in interactive e-learning modules, comic books, text books,
children's television, web-based interactive mediums and other
mainstream media. In addition, we will focus our recruiting efforts
on sincere, dedicated and committed real-life "legends"---high-profile
athletes and celebrities to become the real-life alter-egos for
our animated characters. Working together with our schools and
communities, these Celebrities are committed to publicly personifying
our characters' and their values in personal appearances and major
children's, youth & teen events throughout the country.
3) Caring Mentors : L.E.A.P. ™ will carefully
match adult volunteers, S.M.E.'s (Subject Matter Experts), global
corporate entities and their employees, community groups and organizations,
educational institutions and educators with kids in an exciting
mentoring program that assists parents to break the cycle of literacy,
low self-esteem, behavior that exposes youth to the deadly AIDS
virus, school dropouts, substance abuse, and crime.
The global family is changing, and
the quality of our children's lives is changing with it: A much
higher percentage of children throughout the world live in single-parent
or no parent families (especially in many third world or developing
countries where the deadly AIDS virus has robbed far to many children
of both of their parents) or in extended family environments without
their birth parents i.e. Grandparents; unprecedented percentages
live in homes where both parents work. Today's working mothers'
average much less quality time a day with their children than
ever before; for working fathers, the relationship drops to even
lower levels. In such a world kids often come home from school
to an empty house, or to friends whose influence can be lethal.
Five Guiding Principles & Goals continued Instead of "blaming"
parents for the problem, The L.E.A.P. S.M.A.R.T. Team™ will help
them overcome the day-to-day circumstances that create the problem.
Safe places for kids to go like the "L.E.A.P. Café's; structured
activities that challenge their minds; and one-to-one relationships
with mentors who care---these are the core elements of a program
that helps young people help themselves while strengthening the
very fabric of the homes and communities in which they live.
4) Self-Esteem Education : We will enlist some
of the world's foremost experts in children's self-esteem to develop
a dynamic "curriculum for change" for The L.E.A.P. SMART Team's™
mentors and kids.
Feelings
of low self-esteem and hopelessness are endemic in our youth,
and are at the root cause of problems such as school dropout,
joblessness, drug and alcohol abuse, teen pregnancies and gang
activities. We have seen what happens, however, when kids learn
at an early age to love and respect themselves because a caring
mentor came to them and showed them how.
With The L.E.A.P. SMART
Team's™ self-esteem "curriculum for change," old attitudes and
feelings of "I can't. . .I'm unable. . .I'm afraid. . .I'm nothing.
. .I'm angry. . .I won't try" can be transformed into new attitudes
and expectations of "I can. . .I'm able. . .I'm worthy. . .I want
to. . .I can't wait to. . .and I will." As kids become convinced
that their own potential is precious, unique and unlimited, they
learn to respect themselves and others. They come out of their
shells, make better choices and decisions, stand up to their peers,
strive higher, learn faster and become more enthused about life's
possibilities.
5) Entrepreneurial Education: Our children live
in the most opportunity-rich technologically advanced environment
in the history of the world, and yet the rate of unemployment,
low medium income wages, lack of proper "Real World & I.T. Based
Training" and the sense of hopelessness and the feeling amongst
teens and young adults that they can and will have a better life
for themselves and their families is rapidly deteriorating on
a daily basis.
Even obtaining advanced degrees are no longer a
guarantee of a secure well paying job or at least secure employment.
L.E.A.P. SMART™ believes that the best way to correct most of
this is not to create more low paying jobs, but to dramatically
increase the "Real-World" knowledge and information base of our
kids in school, teach them "Real-World" English skills and create
environments and increased opportunities where they must actually
use these skills, make technology, its' tools, applications, proper
training and usage more available and accessible to and for them
and create more realistic and viable opportunities in the "global
economy" through a feeling that they have a true vested interest
and that they really matter. Our program of Entrepreneurial Education
addresses this challenge at an early age.
